4 highlights of this tour

This tour is a day packed with Kyrgyzstan’s nature, adventure, food and local life!

1. Panoramic views of the Tian Shan from the cable car in Ala-Archa National Park

About 40 km south of Bishkek, roughly 60 minutes by car. Ala-Archa, one of Kyrgyzstan’s best-known national parks, is a gorge area ranging from 1,500 m to 4,800 m above sea level.

The snowy peaks of the Kyrgyz Ala-Too Range, a branch of the Tian Shan, tower right in front of you.

This time we’ll take the cable car up to the summit viewpoint and back. Enjoy the spectacular views below, with time for photos. Afterward, we’ll take a short walk along the Ala-Archa River.

2. A walk in the sky at Chunkurchak

The Sky Bridge, a suspension bridge in Kyrgyzstan’s Chunkurchak Gorge, sits at 2,400 m and is 125 m long. Experience a walk through the air above the gorge. Stop in the middle of the bridge and the ridgeline of the Tian Shan fills your view. If you’re afraid of heights, it’s perfectly fine to just enjoy the view from the end of the bridge.

*Safety comes first on our tours, so if strong winds make it dangerous, we’ll go hiking nearby instead.

3. Lunch of traditional Kyrgyz dishes at the yurt-style eco-resort Supara

The yurt-style eco-resort Supara is located in the same gorge as the Sky Bridge. Here you’ll enjoy a lunch of traditional Kyrgyz dishes such as beshbarmak (boiled meat with flat noodles), manti (steamed dumplings) and lagman (hand-pulled noodles). After lunch, there’s also time to stroll around the grounds.

*If it’s very crowded, lunch may be at a different cafe.

4. Almost all-inclusive: meals, transfers, admission fees and a Japanese-speaking guide

Private vehicle, fuel, Ala-Archa entrance fee, cable car, Sky Bridge admission, lunch at Supara and a Japanese-speaking guide are all included.

On the day, just come to the meeting point as you are. In the afternoon, we’ll stop by a local bazaar in Bishkek (one of Osh Bazaar, Dordoi Bazaar, Alamedin Bazaar, etc.), where you can enjoy browsing for dried fruit, nuts, spices and souvenirs.

*Hotel, personal food and drinks, and travel insurance are not included
*No horse riding

FAQ (Q&A)

We’ve gathered common concerns and questions about the tour. If your question isn’t here, feel free to contact us via LINE or another channel!

[Fitness and health]

Q: I’m not confident about my fitness. Will I be okay?

A: This tour mainly involves traveling by car, short walks and walking across the bridge, with no strenuous exercise. We take the cable car up to the summit, so there’s no demanding trekking on foot.

Q: Isn’t the Sky Bridge scary?

A: It’s at 2,400 m, and in the middle of the bridge the wind blows through, so there may be moments when your legs feel a little shaky. The handrails and wires are sturdy, and your guide will show you how to walk across. If you’re not comfortable with heights, it’s perfectly fine to just enjoy the view from the end of the bridge.

Q: I’m worried about altitude sickness.

A: Since you’ll only be at altitude for a short time, the risk of severe altitude sickness is low, but if you have any health concerns, please consult your doctor beforehand.

Q: What insurance should I get?

A: We currently don’t partner with any particular insurance company, so we can’t name one, but we recommend a plan that meets the following three conditions.

  • Required: medical treatment and rescue cover of at least ¥30 million
  • Required: covers the country you’re visiting (Kyrgyzstan)
  • Recommended: includes chat support in Japanese

[Meals and souvenirs]

Q: Can you accommodate food allergies?

A: If you let us know in advance, we can accommodate them to some extent. Please feel free to ask.

Q: What kinds of souvenirs can I find at the bazaar?

A: Popular items include dried fruit, nuts (walnuts, almonds, dried apricots), spices, Kyrgyz honey and felt goods. You can buy them cheaply at market prices.

[Cancellations and prices]

Q: What happens to the price if someone cancels on a shared tour?

A: Until 3 weeks before departure, the price varies depending on cancellations and additional participants. If someone cancels and the group gets smaller, the price may go up; in that case, we’ll let you know by email 3 weeks before departure. Once the price is confirmed 3 weeks before departure, we will not charge you anything extra even if the number of participants changes after that.

Q: What if I’m still the only participant?

A: If there’s still only one participant at the booking deadline (June 2), the tour is confirmed and runs at $300 for one person. It will not be canceled.

[Clothing and what to bring]

Q: What should I wear?

A: In June, Bishkek is 25–30°C during the day, but at the Sky Bridge (2,400 m) it can get cold in the mornings and evenings. Please bring a light jacket and a long-sleeved base layer.

  • Shoes: sneakers (comfortable for walking)
  • Hat and sunglasses: essential for sun protection
  • Warm layer: a light windbreaker

Q: What do I need to bring? A: Please use the list below as a guide.

  • Essentials: sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, power bank, regular medications, rain gear (folding umbrella, etc.)
  • Nice to have: motion sickness medicine
  • For souvenirs: US dollars cash (around $50–100 for the tour price and the bazaar)

[Money]

Q: When and how do I pay the tour price?

A: As a rule, you pay locally in US dollars cash. Please hand it to your guide at pick-up on the morning of the tour.

Q: How should I pay, and what currency should I use, when buying souvenirs locally? A: Most shops accept cards, but some are cash only. If you want cash, Japanese yen can’t be exchanged, so be sure to bring US dollars cash.

  • Spending money: around $50 for food, drinks and souvenirs should be enough
  • Cards: accepted in Bishkek city, but bazaars are cash only
